Alexis Trent is an advanced research scientist with consulting experience in technology transitions for small businesses seeking licensing and collaboration opportunities with more established companies. She has extensive background and research experience in Life Sciences.
As a student, Alexis designed, implemented and optimized coating methodologies for metal and polymer substrates, as well as initiated a research project creating a coating made from keratin nanomaterials for medical devices. Her research experience included analyzing data from a microfluidic medical device to separate pancreatic cancer cells from a mixed cell population to improve early diagnosis and detection.
Alexis holds a Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. In addition to her doctoral degree, Alexis has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University.
