On March 10th, Kasey O’Malley will represent Newry at The Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition (OFC) to review key findings from a forthcoming quantum technology roadmap ahead of a panel discussion on quantum photonics. Moderated by Tom Hausken of the OSA Industry Development Associates (OIDA), the presentation and panel discussion will take place in Theater I in the Exhibition Hall from 4:15pm – 5:00pm. The panel will focus primarily on quantum communication, but will address challenges and opportunities in other areas as well.

Over the past year, Newry has partnered closely with the OIDA, a division of The Optical Society (OSA), to develop a roadmap for quantum technology. Created based on the direct input of dozens of industry experts and refined by an advisory panel of leading academics and professionals, this roadmap describes the outlook for major commercial applications and identifies critical development tripwires to watch for in this young but exciting field. The roadmap also offers a unique perspective on opportunities where optics and photonics technology could enable major performance breakthroughs in quantum computing, sensing, and communication.

OFC is the largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals. For more than 40 years, OFC has drawn an international audience to participate in dynamic business programming, an exhibition of more than 700 companies, and high impact peer-reviewed research. OFC is managed by OSA and co-sponsored by OSA, the IEEE Communications Society (IEEE/ComSoc), and the IEEE Photonics Society. OFC 2020 will be held March 8-12, 2020 at the San Diego Convention Center in California.
