History of the Firm

Newry was founded in 1987 by Mark McClusky, Newry's current president.  In its earliest days Newry helped fledging technology companies take their products to market, leveraging McClusky's computer-industry background in technology marketing.  (To answer a frequent question:  Newry's name was derived from Newry Street in Melbourne, Australia, where McClusky was a student in the early 1970's.)

Newry was launched in its current form in 1995, when it introduced its growth-oriented consulting practice to major technology companies that needed an independent viewpoint to inform key investment decisions on where and how to grow.

Newry’s approach — rigorous work to build market insight, close attention to the client’s unique problems, and superb strategic communications — was highly productive for the firm’s large technology clients, and Newry began to grow.   About the year 2000, Newry entered a major growth era, adding several high-talent professionals to its staff and rapidly expanding its client base.

In 2001 Newry moved to its current Westlake location, where we have since undergone two significant expansions.  By 2007, Newry had expanded its core staff significantly, with almost thirty professionals in multiple office locations.

In 2006 and again in 2007, the Employers Resource Council named Newry to its NorthCoast99 -- one of the top companies in Northeast Ohio for attracting and retaining top talent.  In 2007, Newry was named to the Weatherhead 100 as one of the fastest growing companies in Northeast Ohio.
